Woods: Back feels great, still getting treatment

RSS

Following what appeared to be a crippling back injury at The Barclays two months ago, Tiger Woods maintained that he wasn’t concerned about any long-term ramifications of the injury.

His actions backed his words, as Woods hardly produced a flinch or grimace during the remaining three FedEx Cup playoff events. Nor did he suffer any flare-ups at the Presidents Cup – until the 15th hole of his Sunday afternoon singles match against Richard Sterne.

Despite that tweak, he still persists that the back issue isn’t a concern, though he is continuing to receive daily treatments.

“My back feels great,” Woods said during a Tuesday conference call. “I took a week off. I've trained this week. I've gotten a bunch of treatment. I just did a clinic out here and felt fantastic.”

As for the treatments, he maintained that they’re necessary, though not exactly a lot of fun.

“It's just about doing all the mundane things, the little rehab treatments. Sometimes it can be mundane but they work over time.”

Woods’ next official start will come at the Turkish Airlines Open, Nov. 7-10.
