JOHNS CREEK, Ga. – It comes as little surprise that Tiger Woods traveled the high road Wednesday at the PGA Championship when he was asked about his former caddie Steve Williams' comments Sunday after Adam Scott's victory at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
'I was happy to see Stevie and Adam win,' Woods said. 'I sent Stevie a nice text congratulating him on his win. It was good to see them go out and win.'
When asked if he was surprised regarding the comments by Williams, who rarely spoke to the media while working for 12 years with Woods, Tiger answered, 'Yeah.'
Williams was spotted Tuesday at Atlanta Athletic Club having a conversation with Woods manager, Mark Steinberg. Wednesday morning Williams released a statement on his website saying that he wished he had credited Scott more for the victory.
'They talked,' Woods said with a smirk.
