Woods on course for worst playoff result

RSS

NORTON, Mass. – Tiger Woods posted a 1-over-par 72 Sunday at the Deutsche Bank Championship and was tied for 29th when he walked off the course.

He’s on pace for his worst finish in a FedEx Cup playoff event.

Of course, his worst finish in four previous playoff starts is T-2.

Woods is also in danger of failing to finish in the top 10 of a PGA Tour event on American soil for the first time in more than two years. He tied for 15th at the Memorial in May of 2007. He has a run of 25 consecutive top-10 finishes in PGA Tour events in the U.S.

Woods’ putting continues to be an issue. The longest putt he made Sunday was the 6-foot birdie he holed at the 15th. The only other birdie putt he converted was a 2-footer at the 18th hole. He didn’t give himself a lot of good birdie chances hitting just 10 of 18 greens in regulation, but he missed a 5-foot birdie chance at the seventh hole and a 6-foot birdie chance at the 11th hole.
