As Tiger Woods prepares to begin his 2012 campaign in Abu Dhabi, the now 36-year-old has his sights set on the top four in the current Official World Golf Ranking.
"There are a lot of golfers who have had a great couple of years and many young guys who will be looking to keep us older guys at bay," Woods said in an interview with the U.A.E.-based Gulf News.
"Luke Donald has been fantastically consistent and obviously Rory McIlroy, Martin Kaymer and Lee Westwood will be looking to build on all they've achieved."
Woods ended the year at No. 23 in the rankings after dropping outside the top 50, his lowest ranking since October 1996 in his rookie season.
A season-ending win at the Chevron World Challenge boosted his ranking and provided some momentum heading into his '12 debut at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Chamionship (Jan. 26-29).
The 14-time major winner joked after the win in Thousand Oaks, Calif., that he is on the right path of the comeback trail.
"I feel pretty good going into next year. I think if I have a good year I should be on the ballot for Comeback Player of the Year, so I'm excited about that," he said.
