DUBLIN, Ohio – It’s difficult not to like the chemistry of a team that owns a 7-1-1 all-time Presidents Cup record, but Tiger Woods believes this year’s United States squad has bonded as well as any of them.
“We've got a lot of players who have been on these teams before,” he said Tuesday. “Jordan [Spieth] is the only rookie on here. Everyone has played on teams prior to this, whether Ryder Cup or Presidents Cup, and that certainly helps.
Woods added that he likes the mix of veterans and young players – and that seems to show in the team room.
“Some of us have been on the team for a very long time. Phil [Mickelson] has been on here for, what, 20 years now or something like that, 19, 20 years. I'm not too far behind him. We've got some older players with Stricks [Steve Stricker] on here, and with Jordan and the youth. It's a great balance. I think it's fun because a lot of the guys, it's a good group of guys. We all take a pretty good ribbing, and it's constant.”
