Woods, McIlroy set for Oct. 28 match in China

Once reported, but now official, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy will face off next month in China at an 18-hole exhibition being labeled the Match at Mission Hills.

Two of the game’s biggest draws will play at Mission Hill's Blackstone Course on October 28. Last year the two played a match at Jinsha Lake in China and McIlroy shot 67 to beat Woods by a shot.

'I'm hoping to win this time,' Woods said Wednesday in a statement. 'I've had a really good year on the PGA Tour, so it would be nice to earn another trophy in China.'

Said McIlroy: 'I'm expecting a lot of fun this time in Hainan. Tiger has played better golf this year, but I feel like I'm getting my game back again and I enjoy any challenge, especially against Tiger, so I'm ready for another showdown.'

Woods, ranked No. 1 in the world, and McIlroy, ranked No. 4, are both in Chicago this week to play the BMW Championship. Woods will play the Tour Championship next week in Atlanta and McIlroy, ranked 41st in the FedEx Cup standings, must play well enough at BMW to move into the top 30 to qualify for the Tour Championship.

There will be a week's break after the Tour Championship, and then Woods will play in the Presidents Cup for the U.S. He's also scheduled to play in the Turkish Airlines Open from Nov. 7-10 on the European Tour and hosts the Northwestern Mutual World Challenge Dec. 5-8 in California.
