Tiger Woods, who withdrew from last week’s WGC-Cadillac Championship on Sunday with a mild strain of his left Achilles tendon, confirmed to Tavistock Cup officials late Friday that he plans to play the two-day team event March 19-20.
Woods also committed to next week’s Arnold Palmer Invitational, where he has won six times. On Friday, Woods told Robin Roberts during “Good Morning America” that he would test the injury later that day to decide if he would play Bay Hill and the Tavistock Cup.
“I’m playing very well,” Woods said in a statement released on his website. “It’s all starting to come together.”
This year’s Tavistock Cup will feature four teams – Isleworth, Lake Nona, Queenwood (England) and Albany (Bahamas) – and will be played at Lake Nona in Orlando, Fla. Woods, a longtime Isleworth resident before moving to south Florida last year, will play for Team Albany in the event.
