Woods plays through stiff back, says it's not serious

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Tiger’s back.

That’s not a commentary on Tiger Woods’ performance at the PGA Championship this week. It’s the body part he was clutching after numerous shots during the final round.

At various times during his even-par 70, Woods swung and followed by almost immediately grabbing his lower back. When asked after the round if this would be a long-term issue, he smiled, laughed, shook his head and offered a one-word response: “No.”

As for what was wrong with his back, Woods maintained that it was merely stiff throughout the round.

“It's been tight all day,” he allowed. “Just one of those things.”
