Woods takes it easy at pro-am with stiff neck, back

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Tiger Woods didn’t hit a full shot on the back nine of The Barclays pro-am on Wednesday, but he maintained it was only for precautionary measures.

“My neck and back are a little bit stiff,” he explained. “It was stiff this morning after a soft bed and just one of those things, sleeping in hotels and I didn't want to push it, so just took it easy and chipped and putted.”

Even though he was hampered by neck and back issues during the PGA Championship two weeks ago, Woods said he didn’t believe this would be a lingering issue.

“No, it was fine at home.”

When asked whether he’d rectify the bed situation for the tournament rounds, he smiled.

“What do you think? I don't know. We'll have something.”

Because he walked with his pro-am group for the final nine holes rather than leaving the course, it wasn’t deemed a withdrawal.
