You can’t win the FedEx Cup at The Barclays, the first of four playoff events, but you can certainly lose the $10 million jackpot on the shores of the Hudson River.
Among the Tournament 1 casualties who will have the next month off will be Aaron Baddeley (No. 103rd in FedEx Cup points, missed cut), Mark Calcavecchia (111th, MC) and Chris DiMarco (113th, MC).
Fredrik Jacobson (107th, T-3) and Heath Slocum (124th, sixth) are poised to crack the top 100 and play another day (next week’s Deutsche Bank Championship), while Michael Allen (101st) also missed the cut, but the reluctant senior has a “Get out of jail for free” card by way of the Champions Tour.
Allen, the winner of this season’s Senior PGA Championship, can work in over-50 starts at Pebble Beach and North Carolina over the next four weeks while his younger Tour brothers are forced to watch the action from the couch.
