Zach Johnson’s red-hot summer finally produced a big payoff.
With his sixth top-10 in his last seven starts, and his first win in more than a year, the BMW champion jumped from No. 24 to No. 12 in the latest Official World Golf Ranking, released Tuesday. It’s the highest Johnson has been ranked since last July, when he rose to No. 11 following his victory at the John Deere Classic, his second title of 2012.
Johnson was one of the few major movers after the third playoff event. Steve Stricker and Jason Dufner flip-flopped at Nos. 9 and 10, respectively, while Jim Furyk rose to 13th after his solo third at Conway Farms.
Overseas, Joost Luiten rose from No. 81 to No. 55 after his victory at the KLM Open.
Here’s the top 10 in the heading into the final week of the 2013 PGA Tour season: Tiger Woods, Adam Scott, Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Henrik Stenson, Matt Kuchar, Brandt Snedeker, Stricker and Dufner.
