Viewer Comments and Questions:
'I've always been told rules are rules, but I can see that you the media seem to be pushing for the powers that be to now forget the rules and allow admission for Lexi Thompson. What are the rules? If the rules state you must be 18, then she should abide by the rules like everyone else. Period.'
'Hawk, you are the man. Your opinions are right on 90% of the time. I agree with the Lexi Thompson deal that she should get her card, and your 'people ruin people' comment was spot on.'
'Love the show! Just wanted to say I met Lexi back when I caddied on the Nationwide Tour and knew her brother Nick. She was 10 and she grabbed my attention even at that age, and I thought that she was going to be something big. She had amazing golf talent, smarts and was almost too mature for a girl at 10. Do you think she could end up like Michelle Wie did after she got all the coverage for being such a young star?'
Response from GolfChannel.com Editorial Director Jay Coffin to Kevin McDonald:
'It's certainly possible for Lexi to go the way of Wie but I don't see it in this case. Lexi has had the reigns pulled back on her more than Wie at this age. Remember, Wie put it all on herself when she wanted to compete against the men and play in PGA TOUR events. That got the hype spinning out of control. Lexi has had a very limited schedule and even if she plays the LPGA full-time next year, she won't play more than 14-15 events, which is just the right balance of golf vs. life. I'm not saying she's the savior of the LPGA and I'm not saying that she'll win five times a year and 10 career majors but it would be a surprise if she doesn't win once or twice each year for the next decade.'
