You may want to sit down for this.
In a classroom full of third graders in Texas last year, we all thought Jason Dufner's laconic pose was spur-of-the-moment genius. The seated position that spawned the social media sensation known as #Dufnering couldn't possibly have been staged or posed or even rehearsed.
Turns out, while it wasn't staged or posed, it wasn't as fly by the seat of your pants as we originally thought.
In a revealing tweet posted Saturday by a PGA professional named Steve Scott (who, oh by the way, finished runner-up to Tiger Woods in the 1996 U.S. Amateur), a fresh-faced Dufner is seen honing his craft in a 1995 newspaper clip. (Far left.)
It appears #Dufnering was all part of the major champion's master plan from the beginning. Wonder what else he has in store for the future.
