He Said/She Said: 54 down, 18 to go

With just 18 holes left at the 141st Open Championship, the Golf Guy and Birdie Bailey offer some tidbits.

By GOLF GUY

Biggest surprise through 54 holes: Thorbjorn Olesen, but he was my dark horse to start. So Thor being on the leaderboard isn't surprising. So ... Lee Westwood AND Luke Donald not being in contention.

Who do I want to win: Toss up between Adam Scott and Ernie Els. Since Els already had three to his name, my cheering section will get behind the Aussie.

Who do I think will win and winning score: Graeme McDowell is poised to pounce. Winning score – 10 under.

Favorite Sunday pairing: Mark Calcavecchia and Louis Oosthuizen (for Scrabble purposes only).

Thoughts on Tiger: I have him in my Survivor Pool, so my bank account is hoping for a decent round on Sunday.

Favorite 'thing' about Royal Lytham: Hands down ... pot bunkers.

Weather: Do I want to see bad weather make its first appearance in this championship in the final round? Simply, no.

Kibbles 'n' Bits: What do I want to see come late Sunday afternoon? The return of a streaker of course. Preferably a female streaker.

Biggest surprise through 54 holes: Rory McIlroy, who made his distaste for Open Championship weather publicly known last year, couldn’t have asked for better conditions this week. Yet after posting 3 under in the first round, McIlroy followed with two lackluster rounds of 75-73. The Northern Irishman got the clear skies and calm winds he wanted at Royal Lytham but has royally under-delivered.

Want to win: Adam Scott – Would love to see Scott finally get a major; he’s too good a player with too stacked a resume not to have one. Oh, and the fervent fodder that would ensue about Steve Williams tying Tiger in major championships won – sure, that wouldn't hurt either.

Who do I think will win and winning score: Scott will get it done tomorrow. He'll shoot 2 under Sunday for a winning total score of 13 under.

Favorite Sunday pairing: The second group off Sunday morning – John Daly and Tom Watson. If Daly plays anything like he did the last time they were paired together (Bay Hill, where Daly had an 18 on the sixth hole and Watson said it was a comedy and a tragedy), we're in for entertainment in the wee hours of the a.m.

Thoughts on Tiger: Eh, a bit bored of the storyline by now. He trails Scott by five headed into the final round and has never come from behind to win a major. That won't change tomorrow.

Favorite 'thing' about Royal Lytham: Adam Scott's argyle sweater that he wore in both the first and third rounds.

Weather: It hasn't shown up all week, but I want it to. Make these guys work for it!

Kibbles 'n' Bits: What do I want to see come late Sunday afternoon? A repeat performance by Jungle Bird. Because what's a major championship trophy ceremony without a few caa-caas?
