Jordan Spieth has been eliminated from the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship.
Robby Shelton of Wilmer, Ala. defeated Spieth 1 up Thursday in the second round of match play at Egypt Valley Country Club in Ada, Mich.
Shelton captured the victory after Spieth bogeyed No. 18. It was the first time he had led the match since No. 2.
Spieth is the defending U.S. Junior Champion and was looking to become the first back-to-back champion since Tiger Woods won three U.S. Junior Amateur Championships in a row in 1991-1993.
Shelton moves on to the round of 16 where he will play Andrew Lister of Haymarket, Va..
