Tiger prowling behind unproven leader

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland – As usual the weather has been a huge factor in this Open Championship. Originally it seemed that those in the afternoon wave got the proper side of the draw. But wind has wreaked havoc on the Old Course and many who were near the top of the leaderboard have faltered.

However, Tiger Woods is still plugging along and after bogeys on the first two holes he has his round back to even par on the day. He's at 5 under total which is tied for sixth place. With an unproven Louis Oosthuizen leading at 12 under, most around here assume that 6 under is the de facto lead, which is where Paul Casey and Lee Westwood sit.

Woods still has eight holes remaining, but if he plays them around even par he will give others an opportunity to see his name up high on the Open Championship's famous yellow leaderboard.
