PARAMUS, N.J. – Through 15 holes, Tiger Woods has missed one shot – a thin third from a greenside bunker at the 12th, which led to his only bogey of the morning. Here's a newsflash for you: Woods has missed one fairway, and that was by no more than a yard or two at the par-5 second, which he birdied.
He came into The Barclays off the roughest stretch of his storied career, having played just one memorable nine-hole stretch all year (third round, U.S. Open). On a gorgeous Thursday in New Jersey, however, Tiger's tee shots are straight, his irons almost flawless, and Eldrick Almighty is back...for a couple of hours, anyway.
With three holes to play, he holds a share of the early, early first-round lead (5 under) with Ryan Palmer.
Too bad this one ain't on TV.
