Palm Beach Area Junior Golfers Advance to the
Mutual of Omaha Drive, Chip & Putt
Regional Championships
Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, April 5 ' A total of 85 junior golfers from the Palm Beach area turned out at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens on Saturday to learn about the game of golf and test their golf skills at the Mutual of Omaha Drive, Chip & Putt Local Championship, presented by the GOLF CHANNEL.
A free competition for juniors between the ages of 7-14, prizes were awarded in each of four age groups ' one to each of the top five in driving, chipping and putting - as well as the top three rankings for the best combined overall performance. The top-three best combined performances will advance to the Florida Regional Championship in Orlando on Saturday, April 12.
The winning participants from the regional championship will qualify for the Mutual of Omaha Drive, Chip & Putt National Championships in Orlando, Fla.
We witnessed some outstanding performances from these young golfers, but at the end of the day everyone who participated was a winner, said Mutual of Omaha General Manager Howard Everette.
Celebrating its 10th season as the worlds largest junior golf skills competition, the Mutual of Omaha Drive, Chip & Putt program provides a free, fun and friendly opportunity for junior golfers to compete, develop and test their golf skills. GOLF CHANNEL and Mutual of Omaha, along with Adelphia Media Services, Dicks Sporting Goods, Rixstine Recognition and Service by Air, has introduced the game of golf to nearly 100,000 junior golfers since the programs inception in 1999.
In 2008, the program will visit 52 cities throughout the United States and will culminate with the Mutual of Omaha Drive, Chip & Putt National Championships. For more information, visit
