The Adelphia Sports Complex hosted the 39th Golf Channel Junior Golf Skills Competition in the Buffalo, NY region. It was great to see participants show up from many different areas including Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Canada. Unfortunately the Junior Golfers from the Buffalo area do not have that many months to play golf. However, they made it obvious that they give 110% effort and excitement to the game when they are able to play. Judging by some of the shots we saw these junior golfers perform they have the talent as well. Even Danny Gehr, former Buffalo Sabre NHL player, now part owner of the Adelphia Sports Complex was impressed with what he saw. Buffalo, another first-time event for the Junior Golf Skills team, was a tremendous success.
On June 2nd, The Golf Channels East Coast Junior Golf Skills team visited Eaglevale Golf Club for its second televised regional of the 2001 season. Not only were we treated to a show by the top finishers from Toronto, Ottawa, Corning, Albany, Buffalo, and Rochester but the junior golfers from the Rochester area provided us with exciting golf as well at the qualifying event. The regional finalists provided us with several memorable golf shots. Whether it was a 225-yard drive, sinking a chip shot, or all of the big smiles on the faces of the participants, this event will leave a lasting memory. We are happy to congratulate Greta Buerman, Tyler Brown and Mike Knott as 2001 Junior Golf Skills Competition National Finalists.
