On Monday, June 4, 2001, The Golf Channel's Drive, Chip & Putt Jr. Golf Skills Competition held it's 43rd event of the season at Audubon Golf Course in Memphis, Tennessee. There was a great turnout, where over one hundred kids participated and 54 medals and awards were given out.

Among the many participants, there was a special twelve year old boy by the name of Brock McWhorter, that The Golf Channel got to know. Brock caught our attention, not only by his huge smile, but his strong spirit. Brock is eleven years old and getting ready to relax this summer before heading to sixth grade at Woodstock Middle School for the upcoming school season. Brock told us that his favorite subjects in school are P.E., Math, Art, Music, English, and Reading.
Brock also said that he is excited about playing baseball, basketball, golf, swimming, and video games this summer. Brock is also into flying rocket jets, and he won an award for flying jets at school.

Brock is a positive kid who loves sports. Not only does he love sports, but he has a positive attitude and he believes he can accomplish anything he puts his mind to accomplish. Brock's godfather told us that Brock wins reading awards in school all the time, due to his hard work and determination.

Brock's heart and spirit is an inspiration not only to The Golf Channel, but to everyone who knows him.

These spotlight articles are meant to recognize the achievement, accomplishment, and spirit of junior golfers that The Golf Channel meets.
