Spotlight Article Worcester New England Regional Finals


On Sunday, July 1, 2001 The Golf Channel's Drive, Chip & Putt Jr. Golf Skills Competition headed to Boylston, Massachusetts for The New England Regional Finals at Cyprian Keyes Golf Club. Unfortunately, rain, thunder, and lightning interrupted the event. After a week of rest, the participants returned to Cyprian Keyes Golf Club to compete for the chance to go to Walt Disney World for The National Finals.
On Sunday, July 8, with no weather interruptions, the televised regional went off without a hitch. After all golfers had finished on the course, three participants had qualified for The National Finals coming up on October 27, 2001 in Orlando, Florida.
Noah Walker, age 8, of Norwell, Massachusetts, qualified in the 7&8 division, Brittany Altomare, age 10, of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts qualified in the 9&10 division, and Charlie Estes, age 12, from Medfield, Massachusetts, qualified in the 11&12 division.
Noah, Brittany, and Charlie will compete as three of 54 golfers that will travel to Walt Disney World to compete for The Golf Channel's Drive, Chip & Putt Jr. Golf Skills Competition National Championship Title.
