This yoga pose effectively addresses these areas of the body and will help you finish strong! In addition the pose gives you an opportunity to practice balance and focus. Before you begin the pose, stand tall and pick a spot on the floor about four feet in front of you. Begin to focus on this spot ' total concentration. In yoga we call this type of focus one-pointed concentration. As you practice this mental focus in your Yoga for Golfers exercises you can begin to incorporate this in the zone focus on the golf course.
Using a strap or belt, place the strap around your left foot, gently bringing the left heel towards the left buttocks. Be sure the knees are in alignment and touching. With the hips facing forward gently press the left hip forward, feeling the stretch in the left quad and hip flexors. If you need more intensity begin to press your foot towards the strap, making space between the left foot and the buttocks. Hold for five to ten breaths and switch sides.
On course tip: This is a great stretch to do on the golf course to keep your lower body loose during the round. Place one hand on the golf cart for balance support.
