Golf Fitness on the Go - Series 2 - Week 6

This series features a weighted club that is easy to store, compact to travel with and also serves as a strength training tool. You will learn the proper on-course exercises you should do to prepare for the stress of the game and how to use the swing trainer to improve your ball striking ability. It's going to take some time for you to become familiar with this golf-specific workout, so be patient. You're a golfer so by now you understand the word patient when it comes to golf!
 
Resistence strength tubingTo prepare for our next series you will need resistance strength tubing. This tubing is available in the pro shop and, as with our other pieces of equipment in these series, it is easy to store and compact for travel. Order now so you are ready to go the week of August 30th!

This week we will:
  • Strengthen the trunk which is critical in making an effective turn

  • Ultimately increase your overall fitness level and reduce your handicap
Are you ready? Lets get started....
 
BACKSWING

Shoulder Turn 01Shoulder Turn 03

Start: Place the swing trainer across the back and hook both elbows to secure. Place both feet at address position. Flex the abdomen and place torso at address position.
 
Action: Slowly rotate the torso to the top of the backswing.
 
Finish: Return to the start position.
 
Tips: Keep the head focused at the tee.
 
FOLLOW -THROUGH

Start: Place the swing trainer across the back and hook both elbows to secure. Place both feet at address position. Flex the abdomen and place torso at address position.
 
Action: Slowly rotate the torso to the top of the followthrough position.
 
Finish: Return to the start position.
 
Tips: Head follows target
