For many this could be the last event of the season, as next weeks Buy.Com Tour Championship has invites only for the top 55 on the Buy.Com money list.
At the moment only $4,402 separate No. 55 Brad Ott and No. 56 Roger Tambellini.
And as David Branshaw, last weeks winner of the Gila River Classic, proved, anyone far down the money list shouldnt think that all is lost.
With his victory and the $76,500 first-place check, Branshaw moved all the way from 137 on the money list to comfortably inside the top 55 at No. 43.
This weeks purse is $425,000 with $76,500 going to the winner.
Though there are many hoping that this isnt the last tournament they will be playing this season, there are four golfers wishing just the opposite.
Jason Gore, Cliff Kresge, Arron Oberholser and Patrick Moore all have two victories for the year and a win here, their third, would give them immediate entry onto the PGA Tour per the Battlefield Promotion. Last year three players earned the honor.
Also at stake this week is the jostling for position for the all-important top 15 on the money list. The 15 who finish the season with the most money made on the tour receive exempt status onto the PGA Tour for the 2003 season.
