Annika to Make Appearance on Tonight Show

World No. 1 Annika Sorenstam will make her second appearance as a guest on NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, on Monday, Oct. 9.

The Tonight Show, which is taped in Los Angeles, is a quick trip from BIGHORN Golf Club in Palm Desert, Calif., where Sorenstam will defend her title at the Samsung World Championship later that week. Oct. 9 is also Sorenstam's 36 th birthday, so her interview with Jay Leno will kick off what could be a memorable week, as she will be going for her 70 th career LPGA victory at the Samsung World Championship, an event she could win for the sixth time.

Kathy Whitworth (88 wins) and Mickey Wright (82 wins) are the only players in LPGA Tour history to reach the 70-win milestone, and Sorenstam would be the first to do so in almost 33 years. Another Samsung World Championship title (she won the event in 1995-96, 2002, 2004-05) would make her the first player in LPGA history to win the same tournament six times (a feat she could also accomplish next month at the Mizuno Classic).

Sorenstam was a guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in April 2003, prior to her participation in the PGA Tour's Bank of America Colonial. The Tonight Show with Jay Leno airs weeknights at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
