Forty-two LPGA Tour players join 35 elite Japan LPGA Tour players to compete in the 54-hole event. It is the last official money event on the LPGA Tour schedule prior to the season ending LPGA Tyco/ADT Championship.
Defending champion Lorie Kane made this her third victory in 2000. The Canadian native finished tied with Sophie Gustafson after posting a three-day score of 70-68-66=204. The two, tied at 12-under par, matched wits on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff where Kane prevailed.
The event, which began in 1973, returns to Musashigaoka Golf Course in Saitamam Japan after at two-year hiatus. Of the seven times the event has been held at the Msuashigaoka GC, no one has finished the event with a single digit score. Pat Bradley (1983), Jane Blalock (1985) and Debbie Massey (1990) jointly hold the course record of 8-under-par 64.
