LPGA Returns to the Sooner State

Its been 18-years since the LPGA was last in Oklahoma but this week the Tour returns to the Sooner State to compete in the Williams . The three-day event features a $1 million purse with $150,000 going to the winner.
This first-year event is to be held at Tulsa Country Club in Tulsa, Okla. and hosts a full field of players including last weeks winner Kate Golden along with three of the top-five LPGA Tour Money leaders: Annika Sorenstam (No.1), Karrie Webb (No.3) and Dottie Pepper(No.5).
GolfWeek magazine has rated Tulsa Country Club as one of the top-five golf courses in Oklahoma and competitors will see why as they come face to face with the difficult 6,233-yard, par-70 course designed by the famed Albert Warren Tillinghast in 1908 and redesigned by Jay Morrish in 1984-88.
Undulating greens will challenge event the savviest putter. A consistent game will be needed this week, as there are only two par-5s and three par-3s on the course.
Other notables in the field include: Charlotta Sorenstam, Rosie Jones, Jen Hanna, Jill McGill, Pat Hurst, Jeong Jang, and Kris Tschetter.
