Johnson Tops Davies in Wales

Ladies European TourROYAL PORTCAWL -- Englands Trish Johnson produced a faultless performance to win her first title in four years with a dramatic final day victory at the Wales Golf as it should be Ladies Open at Royal Porthcawl GC.
It was Johnsons 17th worldwide victory and first since the 2000 Daily Telegraph Ladies British Masters and the 38-year-old who is an honorary member at the club, won with bags of style as she carded an 8-under-par 65 in front of nearly 8000 spectators beside the Bristol Channel, just along the coast from her birthplace.
Johnsons 65 took her to 15 under par to snare the first prize three shots ahead of Denmarks Iben Tinning, who had a 5-nder 68 and close friend and Solheim Cup partner Laura Davies, who had a 1-under-par 72.
Overnight joint leader Helen Alfredsson, winner her at the inaugural event in 2001, shared fourth place alongside Marta Prieto from Spain and Asa Gottmo, winner here in 2002, who had a level par 73.
