Money-leader Aaron Barber of Orlando, Fla., who also won Most Improved International Player during Monday's Awards Gala, looks to put an exclamation point on a remarkable turnaround season when the opening round gets underway Saturday at Whirlpool Golf Club.
Also in the starting field are three others that took home hardware Monday night: Craig Matthew (Most Improved Canadian); Derek Gillespie (Canadian Rookie of the Year); and Mark Slawter (International Rookie of the Year). Jason Bohn (Atlanta, Ga.), who garnered worldwide attention when he carded a best-ever 58 last Sunday during the final round of the Bayer Championship in Sarnia, will also tee it up this weekend.
Jim Rutledge of Victoria, B.C. defeated Brian Payne (Chicago, Ill.) at this event a year ago. Arden Knoll (Kelowna, B.C.) won the initial Niagara Classic in 1999.
