Canadians Looking For Second Straight Title

POINTE-AU-PIC, Quebec -- While the 2002 Canadian Tour season came to a close just over a week ago in Toronto, several players will represent the Tour this week at the Casino de Charlevoix Cup in northern Quebec.
The Quebec PGA plays host to the event for the sixth year, but only the third featuring Canadian Tour players taking on their QPGA counterparts. Sixteen two-man teams from both the Canadian Tour and QPGA will play a best-ball, match-play format at Le Manoir Richeliu Golf Club with opening-round action getting under way Wednesday. Each Tour will stay on their own side of the draw through Saturday, when the two bracket champions will meet in the final.
Last year, the Canadian Tour team of Darren Griff and Drew Symons defeated Jean-Louis Lamarre and Pete Bousquet on the first playoff hole to win the title. Earlier, Symons and Griff had edged Blair Piercy and Davidson Matyczuk, 1-up, to advance to the championship match.
