Opening Round Suspended in Myrtle Beach


CanAm Days ChampionshipHeavy rain has forced a suspension of play during the opening round at the CanAm Days Championship. Play was halted at 10:10 a.m. EST Thursday when conditions were deemed unplayable on Barefoot Resort's Pete Dye course, and the decision to suspend play for the day was made at 1 p.m.
Brett Bingham of Red Deer, AB has a share of the lead with Scott Newton of the U.S. at 3-under. Bingham completed nine holes, and is one of 72 golfers that began their opening rounds Thursday.
They will be back in position Friday to resume play at 8 a.m., while the Round 1 afternoon draw will begin at 10:30 a.m.
With 144 golfers from ten countries in the starting field, the CanAm Days tournament is the final of four season-opening tournaments to be staged at Barefoot.
