Amie pulled out citing a bad back.
Im trying to loosen up a bit; the muscles are a little on the tight side, she said while on the practice range Wednesday afternoon.
Unfortunately, the 29-year-old Californian was unable to work out the kinks prior to her 1:40 p.m. ET tee time.
Upon withdrawing, she headed back to her home in Newport Beach, Calif., to see her doctor.
Amie won The Golf Channels Big Break III ' Ladies Only! and was awarded a pair of LPGA exemptions this season. She missed the cut in her tour debut at the Michelob Ultra Open.
Instructor Dean Reinmuth has been working with Amie on her swing, particularly in the short-game area. He said that while theyve been trying to rework her swing in a way to alleviate pressure on her back, the process cant correct any damage that has already been done.
Danielle has the type of swing that produces a lot of torque in her back, he said. Partially because of this, over the years she has developed problems in the area.
If youre in a pressurized situation, youre muscles tighten and spasms can occur in the back to where you cant even stand up in a swing position, he added. Some people can go to the (health) trailer and get it worked on and be fine, but thats not the case for everyone.
Hopefully, shell get another shot, but that depends on the LPGA and The Golf Channel.
No word yet as to whether Amie will get another opportunity to use a second tour exemption.
