The measure of a good hole

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Players used every resource possible Thursday on the Stadium Course's par-3 17th at TPC Sawgrass:  from GPS systems to caddies.

Jerry Gallemore employed the latter.

'Little left,' Gallemore's caddie instructed as he got set to hit his tee shot. 'Little more, little more, there you go.'

Gallemore hit a pretty looking shot. His ball landed on the very front of the green ... and then spun back into the water.

Bill Clark, playing two groups in front of Gallemore, measured his distance to the front of the green as '113 to clear the edge.'

Unfortunately, he hit it 112. The ball caromed off the wooden planks, onto the back of the green and rolled into the hazard.
