Alex Miceli - November 16, 2011

Miceli is in Melbourne, Australia this week for the Presidents Cup. When Match #6 with Tiger and Adam was announced, there had been a slow build-up of anticipation of this announcement and by the time the 5th match was announced, everyone knew that this would be the case. The idea that Couples and Norman did not somehow collude on this matchup is ridiculous and no one believes the idea that it was random in any way.

In his opinion, the match where the International team is most likely to win is the Baddeley and Day match. That match is the only one of the first six to feature an all-Australian pair. Both of them are playing well and had good finishes last week in Sydney and the crowd provides an X-factor on the golf course. The International team in fact has solid pairs in the first three matches and could win all three.

At the end of the day, the people who bet determine the favorites but in terms of skill and score, it is even right now. If you go down the list on both sides, there are not a lot of players who are playing well right now especially among the veterans so both teams are having to rely on their rookies to earn points and hopefully win.

Tiger Woods loves to play at Torrey Pines and start his season there but money talks. It is not the first time that he has started a season overseas and he is not going to criticize Woods for taking a big paycheck to go to Abu Dhabi instead of Torrey Pines. Mickelson as well as a number of other great players will be at Torrey Pines and Tiger could still enter another West Coast event in the U.S. such as the Humana Challenge. In 2012, to put it simply, Torrey Pines will be the event that will not have Tiger but it will be fine.
