Brandt Snedeker - January 31, 2012

Snedeker came from seven strokes back in the final round of  the Farmers Insurance Open and won in a playoff over 54-hole leader Kyle Stanley who lost his lead after a Sunday 74. After his round, he is doing some media interviews and there was a monitor with the broadcast on and when Stanley hit his third into the water, he realized that he needed to get ready for a playoff and by the time he hit his 5th to the back of the green, he was at the putting green hitting some putts to get ready.

The feeling that you have when you win in this fashion is different because you have to tone down your celebration because of what happened to Kyle Stanley. When he got back to where he was staying with family in San Diego and had some adult beverages, he was able to be happy about the win but due to the circumstances, it took a lot longer for the win to set in. He did not expect that the first words out of his mouth when he won would be “I’m sorry.”

After having hip surgery late last year, he is very pleased to be able to not only be back on the golf course but also play well. He has worked very hard to get back in shape for the PGA TOUR and he is very happy to have been successful.

The Ryder Cup is his main goal in 2012 because Davis Love III is a personal hero of his and it would be a real honor to be a member of his team at Medinah. He is also excited about the four Majors this year and having played a number of times at Kiawah Island, he is particularly excited about the PGA Championship and he thinks the next phase in his career will involve being able to at least seriously contend at least once a year in the Major Championships.

He is having a lot of fun watching his Vanderbilt Commodores play basketball this season and is very excited to see how they play as the season continues. Before he left, he had something to say to Erik about how much he and other people who wear visors get teased by him. Snedeker added that he thinks Robert Rock could be the most interesting man in golf.
