David Lingmerth - October 9, 2012

On Sunday, David Lingmerth won the Neediest Kids Championship on the Web.com Tour to move from 27th to 7th on the Money List which secures him a PGA TOUR card for the 2013 season. It is first win as a professional.

He knew about the importance of being in the Top 25 but he admitted that he has not looked at the Money List very much this season. It is a long year and he also knew that good golf would take care of everything so he decided to just be patient on the course and see what happened.

He won on a very difficult course at TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm and Lingmerth likes to believe that the tougher courses bring out the best in his game. He grew up in Sweden so he knows what it is like to play in tough weather and he has had to battle throughout his career in the pursuit of his goal of playing on the PGA TOUR. It was a great week from start to finish and now he will be able to live his dream as a PGA TOUR member in 2013.

Annika Sorenstam and Jesper Parnevik have been great role models for golfers in Sweden and certainly for him. You can only play golf for half the year but he was fortunate enough to be able to be part of Sweden’s national program for golf when he was in high school. Looking back, he owes a great deal of his success to the lessons that he has learned since his high school years.
