Derek Bohlen - October 4, 2012

Derek Bohlen is the first contestant to be eliminated from Big Break Greenbrier. His goal was to better himself and his career through the show and having watched Big Break in the past, he knew that Big Break Greenbrier would provide the perfect opportunity. The show would force him to perform well under a great deal of pressure while being surrounded by many cameras and no matter what, he would become a better player and a better person for the experience.

He chose Isaac Sanchez to face in the Elimination Challenge and he picked Isaac because he did not have enough time to consider the three players that he could have picked. Isaac is a big guy with big game and he felt that he would be able to give him a good challenge in trying to stay on the show. Obviously, that plan did not work.

It takes a lot for him to get worked up and Big Break Greenbrier forced him to get worked up about his game because unlike a tournament where you have 18 holes to put yourself in position, you have to pull off shots on demand without much time to prepare. You do not have the luxury of time in trying to accomplish your goals on the course.

He tried to Monday Qualify for the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open but did not make the field. His future plans involve competing in Q-School to try to earn his PGA TOUR card for 2013. He is going to work hard to prepare and he feels that he is playing well right now.
