Dr. James Spencer is the Medical Director of the Spencer Dermatology and Skin Surgery Center. The top 3 things that golfers can do to prevent skin cancer are all simple things: wear a broad-brimmed hat similar to that hat that Greg Norman wears instead of a baseball cap, apply and re-apply sunscreen when you outside and that is easier to do with the existence of sprays, and schedule your tee time either before 10AM or after 2PM because the sun’s rays are at their strongest between those hours. We know that excessive exposure to ultraviolet light causes skin cancer so it is not surprising that a lot of golfers get skin cancer but there are simple ways to prevent it.
