Golf Channel Analyst Frank Nobilo is in England this week for the 141st Open Championship at Royal Lytham & St. Annes. The best thing about Royal Lytham & St. Annes is the bunkering. There are just over 200 bunkers on the course now but there used to be many more. Although almost half of the bunkers have been removed over the years, there is still an average of about 10 bunkers per hole.

Despite being a short distance away from the water in parts and also being surrounded by houses, there is no question that Royal Lytham is a true links test. The course has a front nine that goes out and a back nine that comes back in so the winds will be the complete opposite on each nine holes. And if you have the breeze in your face, it becomes a difficult place to have a good finish.

He walked the golf course with Steve Sands yesterday and today and both of them were surprised to see some bounce in the greens despite all of the recent rain which has softened the golf course. He hopes that there will be at least a little bit of rain everyday this week because if the winds are up, the course will be reduced to a survival test and he would like to see Royal Lytham offer up some chances to score.
