Frank Nobilo - October 31, 2012

Golf Channel Analyst Frank Nobilo is in Thailand this week for the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship. The Augusta National Golf Club is one of the founders of this event and they have a big presence as Chairman Billy Payne and a number of other members are in attendance this week in Thailand. The tournament was founded in 2009 and it has evolved a great deal since then and it is only going to continue to grow.

There are 36 nations in the Asia-Pacific region represented in the field and the Championship was validated when Hideki Matsuyama won Low Amateur honors in the 2011 Masters. The diversity of nations represented is very impressive and the fact that an invitation to The Masters is awarded to the Champion does so much to inspire young golfers in that region and golf will only continue to grow thanks in large part to the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship.

The young players in this Championship are well aware that they have a responsibility to not only work to grow the game around the world but also grow the game in their home countries. They represent the future of the game of golf and they have the ability to inspire many other people in their home countries in areas of life beyond the game of golf.
