Joe Louis Barrow, Jr. - November 7, 2012

Joe Louis Barrow, Jr. is the CEO of The First Tee. Now that their goal of raising $100 million in funds raised in 2012, the organization is now focused on wrapping up the yearlong campaign and focusing on how they will spend that money to reach 10 million new young people around the United States.

When asked about President Barack Obama’s interest in The First Tee, Barrow, Jr. said that Obama has supported legislation to help The First Tee since he was a member of the U.S. Senate. The President loves the game of golf and he has been a fan and supporter of The First Tee for a long time.

The First Tee will mark its 15th anniversary next week and everyone is so happy to mark this special occasion on November 13th. PGA TOUR Commissioner Tim Finchem made calls to numerous organizations in the game of golf and they were all happy to be involved. No one could have imagined that they could have accomplished as much as they have in 15 years and The First Tee has many ambitious goals for the future. You would not imagine  the game of golf being involved in societal change but it really has played a big role in improving the lives of so many people all over the country from all walks of life.
