Justin Rose - October 17, 2012

Justin Rose, who is 5th in the Official World Golf Ranking, won the Turkish Airlines World Golf Final last week with a win over Lee Westwood in the final match. Rose said that he had been looking forward to going to Turkey for a long time and was especially excited to compete against some of the best players in the world. The idea of the event was to show that Turkey is a great destination for golf and they were able to do that.

When you are making your schedule and you see an event like the World Golf Final with a great field and a big purse, it is very attractive but once you are at the event, you are focused on competing and trying to win. It felt great to play well all week and it is always nice to win.

At this point in the year, he is focused on staying fresh on the course because this is the time of year where you try to win the Race to Dubai. He is currently second behind Rory McIlroy in the Race to Dubai and he is hoping to narrow the gap with two events in China before playing in the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai. McIlroy is also playing several events on the European Tour so it will definitely be a challenge to catch him.

He feels that he has had a great trajectory in his career in terms of his wins around the world. Winning a Major Championship is certainly his goal and while he feels confident that he has what it takes to win his first Major, he does not want to place too much emphasis on the Majors because he does not want to end up trying too hard and then fail to win.

The work that he and his wife have done in the United States with Blessings in a Backpack has been very rewarding. It has been a great joy to be able to help so many kids in the Orlando area. When he lived in England, he was closely involved with a number of cancer charities but after moving to the U.S. and becoming parents, he and his wife became very interested in working with a charity that helped kids in need and Blessings in a Backpack is a fantastic charity that does wonderful work.
