Meghan Stasi - October 16, 2012

Last week, Meghan Stasi won the U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur for a fourth  time and became the 16th person to win a USGA event four times, joining a list of players that includes Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan, and Jack Nicklaus.

Although winning certainly never gets old, she said that it is truly an honor to be added to such an illustrious list of USGA Champions who have won the same event at least four times. That reality has not set in yet and she does not know if it ever will. Now that she has joined this great list, she is looking forward to giving back to the game that has given her so much.

She considered turning professional after spending 7 years as the Head Women’s Golf Coach at the University of Mississippi but it did not work out and she decided to remain a competitive amateur. Meghan said that she is very happy that she made that decision and it has been a great joy to be able to compete in these great USGA events.

Her father has been her caddie in tournaments for many years and it is always a special experience when they are together. They understand each other and it is a comforting feeling to have him there when it is the heat of competition. Their connection with golf has been there since she was a kid and just starting to learn the game of golf.
