2012 Encompass Insurance Pro-Am Champion Michael Allen earned his second Champions Tour win on Sunday and his first since the 2009 Senior PGA Championship. Allen made two bogeys early in his final round although he said he was not nervous and actually felt comfortable. His plan was to play aggressive because he knew he was playing well. He is in better physical shape right now than he has been in a long time and also his golf swing is in great shape thanks to some hard work with his coach. As a result, he has a lot of confidence in what he is doing.
He has two main goals for the rest of this year. First, he would want to win the Charles Schwab Cup and he is excited to compete for that title against many players who he has admired for many years. Second, he wants to qualify for the U.S. Open at Olympic Club as both San Francisco and the Olympic Club mean a great deal to him.
Since he joined the Champions Tour, he has decided to play certain events on the PGA TOUR because the challenges that the PGA TOUR courses present help to keep his game sharp for the Champions Tour and it is also a lot of fun to compare his game with those of the young stars of the PGA TOUR.
