Randall Mell - July 9, 2012

GolfChannel.com Senior Writer Randall Mell joined Morning Drive from Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he attended the U.S. Women’s Open. Michelle Wie played her way into the final pairing of the third round of the U.S. Women’s Open before shooting 78-80. There was real hope and confidence in that second round 66 and showed that it is possible that she can come out of the slump that she has been in on the 2012 LPGA Tour. Mell then complimented Wie on the way she has handled her slump when it comes to way that she deals with fans and the media. Wie received a lot of support from a lot of people last week and you can see the influence of the people behind Vision 54 who Wie has been working with lately.

Michelle Wie has been able to create a life outside of the game of golf and a lot of that is thanks to her experience at Stanford University. Now that she is a college graduate, it is unfortunate that she is not playing as well as she has in the past but Wie has never been happier in her life outside of the course and because of that, Mell is optimistic that her off-course life will eventually have a positive influence on her on-course life.
