Rick Barry is a member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and was in Long Island earlier this week for the Mentor’s Champions Golf Challenge. Four of his sons played professional basketball and also received Division I basketball scholarships. His son Brent won 2 NBA Championships with the San Antonio Spurs. It is very remarkable and a great thrill for him as a parent to watch his boys play and then become successful in both college and professional basketball. Any time you can do something to help the next generation, you need to do it and because he has been blessed with wonderful children, of course he wants to be involved in something like this. Plus, he is good friends with Bill Russell and wants to help his organization. It is an amazing feeling to offer advice to someone and then see that young person have success putting that advice to use. He loves working to help change and even save the lives of young people in the United States and around the world.
