Stacy Lewis is the defending champion this week in the Kraft Nabisco Championship. She admitted that it was a bit strange to return to the course on Monday this week and go back through the experience of the final round. Her name is on the wall of champions now when she crosses the bridge at the 18th hole and it is very exciting to be back.
Yani Tseng is clearly the dominant player right now and although she may not have the intimidation factor of Tiger Woods, players certainly know when Yani is on the leaderboard and everyone knows that they have to raise their game.
Although it is nice as a player to have parity where a lot of players are winning, she would prefer to have one dominant player on the LPGA Tour because it allows players and fans to know who the best in the game is at a certain point. If there is one dominant player, then everyone is trying to challenge her and that can be very exciting.
She was frustrated with the way she ended her 2011 season as she had a couple of good chances to win but was unable to get the job done. She has worked hard in the offseason on her ball striking with her irons as she feels that she drove the ball very well in 2011. Hopefully that work will lead to being in contention more often this year.
It is an amazing feeling to come to a place where your face is on billboards because she has never had that happen before. A lot of people also recognize her when she is both on and off the course and it is very nice to have people say hello and wish you luck.
