Stephen Kupcha is a retired U.S. Navy SEAL and the head of Birdies For The Brave. After leaving the military, it took about 15 days for him to begin his work with organizations like Birdies For The Brave. He had an older brother who joined the military and he had a friend in the Navy SEALS who told him all kinds of great stories about serving as a SEAL and from the age of 14, he worked hard towards the goal of being a Navy SEAL himself.

There are a lot of great hardships in the training to become a Navy SEAL. One of the most difficult aspects is the water training where you have to survive under great duress. It is just one of the things that prepares you and challenges you to become a Navy SEAL.

In 2012, Birdies For The Brave raised about $3 million for veterans and that effort was led by a number of PGA TOUR players including Phil Mickelson. The goal for 2013 is to raise $4 million but the sky is truly the limit when it comes to what they feel is possible in helping members of the military and their families.
