Tim Rosaforte - March 19, 2012

On the latest excerpts from “The Big Miss” that were published in the New York Times, he said that he was too busy to read all of them but he did talk to Hank Haney and Jaime Diaz online about them and what struck Tim the most was the fact that this seems to be real inside information. Haney and Diaz both told Tim how much respect they have for Tiger and that you have to read the whole book before you determine the tone and the motivation of “The Big Miss.” The only thing that the excerpts and the controversy surrounded them will do is sell more books.

Ernie Els bogeyed the last two holes on Sunday to miss the playoff by one shot and he was amazed at how shocked he seemed during the interview with Steve Sands on Golf Channel on NBC after signing his card. He is hoping that Masters Chairman Billy Payne and others at the Augusta National are looking into the possibility of giving Els a Special Invitation to The Masters. It will be interesting to see what happens depending on how Els plays this week in the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

In his second visit to Monday’s Morning Drive, Tim began by saying that Ernie Els understood the position that Steve Sands was in when Steve interviewed Els following bogeys on 17 and 18 on Sunday’s Golf Channel on NBC broadcast. He hopes that Els will be able to earn an invitation to The Masters but if he cannot, he hopes that Augusta National offers a Special Invitation.

At Medalist Golf Club in South Florida, both Greg Norman and Rickie Fowler were winners in the Member-Guest. Fowler has had quite a couple of weeks as he has added the Member-Guest at Medalist Golf Club to his recent win in the Seminole Golf Club Pro-Member a couple of weeks ago. Medalist Golf Club has many professional golfers as members and although he did not play in the tournament, Tiger Woods was practicing at Medalist last weekend and watched some of the action.

Legendary sportswriter Furman Bisher passed away and Tim said that he did not feel worthy to even discuss such a legendary figure. Bisher covered many sports but he loved the game of golf and covered many events throughout his life. He hopes that Bisher is now playing golf with some of the friends he made in his life up on the big golf course in the sky.
