Martin Kaymer, who is in the field for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, has struggled for much of 2012. However, he made the putt in Sunday Singles to clinch the Cup for Europe as well as win his match against Steve Stricker. That putt has completely changed his momentum for the rest of the year. We have seen on many occasions players who rise to a higher level when the heat is on and we saw Kaymer succeed under extraordinary pressure in Chicago. It is great to see him have such a great moment after struggling for a long time since he tried to change his swing in 2011.
Paul Lawrie, who is also in the field in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, said that he heard quite a few negative comments from U.S. fans who wanted him to hit bad shots. Isenhour said that he hopes that fans do not go over the top because the Ryder Cup has a great spirit when it comes to competition but he acknowledged that such comments are a part of the competition because some fans have had too much to drink and cross the line from witty to rude in their remarks.
